East Jaiñtia Court convicts man for attempting to strangle 3-year-old child

Shillong, Aug 1: The East Jaintia Hills District in Meghalaya has seen several convictions in various cases, including domestic violence, road traffic accidents and physical assault.

The cases were investigated by the local police and tried in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Khliehriat.

Morning War was convicted for attempting to strangle his three-year-old son and threatening his wife.

He was sentenced to pay a fine of ₹500 for the offense under section 352 IPC and ₹1,000 for the offense under section 323 IPC.

Bun Phawa was convicted for cruelty, physical assault, and criminal intimidation against his estranged wife. He was sentenced to 3 years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of ₹30,000 for the offense under section 498A IPC, 5 years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of ₹20,000 for the offense under section 506 IPC, and 1 year of rigorous imprisonment for the offense under section 323 IPC.

Shainingstar Dkhar was convicted for a road traffic accident that occurred on February 10, 2019. However, the judgment mentioned the convicted person as Jrewel Pale, which seems inconsistent with the case details provided.

The court sentenced the convicted person to pay a fine of ₹1,000 for the offense under section 279 IPC and ₹500 for the offense under section 337 IPC.

Jrewel Pale was convicted for a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on March 26, 2020. He was sentenced to 6 months of rigorous imprisonment for the offense under section 279 IPC and 1 year of rigorous imprisonment for the offense under section 304A IPC.

Bikash Das was convicted for a fatal road traffic accident that occurred in April 2019. He was sentenced to 6 months of rigorous imprisonment for the offense under section 279 IPC and 2 years of rigorous imprisonment for the offense under section 304A IPC.

Sanki Lamurong was convicted for physically assaulting Shri Neini Bareh. He was sentenced to pay a fine of ₹400 for the offense under section 352 IPC and ₹900 for the offense under section 323 IPC.
