Tura, May 30: A fire broke out at Dakopgre, opposite the Dakopgre petrol pump, in Tura, West Garo Hills on Tuesday morning, resulting in complete destruction of three shops.
The fire was reported at around 8:00 am, in which three shops were completely gutted – a tea shop, a tyre shop, and a salon. The place is close to the CRPF camp.
People witnessed the fire from miles, which also led to a huge traffic jam in the area as the parents and students were rushing to the school.
As soon as the fire was reported, immediate action was taken by the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) personnel, who swiftly arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames. Their efforts helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures and minimize the damage.
Officials at the scene said the preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have been caused by a gas cylinder blast. The intensity of the fire led to the complete gutting of the three shops, leaving them in ruins.
Authorities estimate that the monetary loss resulting from the incident could range between Rs. 4 to 5 lakhs.
There were no human causalities.
Police is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and gather more information about the incident.
