Guwahati, Aug 17: Five persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a 48-year-old woman, whose body was recovered from a forested area in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.
“The victim ran a tea stall and went missing after shutting her stall around 5 pm. Her body was later traced with the help of a mobile phone tracker. Preliminary examination revealed multiple injuries, including severe wounds on the head,” said a police official.

The body has been sent to Diphu Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
“A case has been registered. The exact cause of death will be established after the autopsy report is received,” the official added.
Angry locals gathered in front of a police outpost, alleging that the victim had been gang-raped by five men before being murdered.
They also demanded that work at the hydro-electric project be suspended until justice is delivered.
