Ganol dam water level may be released in case water level rises: DDMA

Tura, July 20: The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), West Garo Hills, Tura, has informed the general public that the water level at Ganol dam might be released in case of a rise in the water level in the reservoir that is above the safe level.

This precautionary measure is being taken to prevent any potential overflow and ensure the safety of nearby communities. The DDMA urged residents living in low-lying areas to stay alert and follow any evacuation instructions provided by the authorities in such situations.

Therefore, the Deputy Commissioner has requested that those people staying in villages situated downstream of Ganol dam be extra cautious and are advised not to venture into rivers or streams so as to avoid any unfortunate incident and to stay away from streams, drains, culverts, etc. Moreover, in cases of flooding, people should stay away from electric poles or power lines to avoid mishaps or untoward incidents.

It is crucial for individuals to follow the instructions given by the authorities during such situations to ensure their safety. Additionally, it is advisable for residents to stay informed about weather updates and remain vigilant in case of any sudden changes or warnings issued by the authorities.
