Shillong, Jan 14: Power Minister James K. Sangma today said that 22.5 mw Ganol Hydro project will be commissioned by May 2022.
“We are optimist that the Ganol project will be commissioned by May 2022,” said the minister.
“We are sincere and serious about the completion of Ganol project, it is a matter of great pride for Garo Hills and also it will address a lot of issues with regard to the problem of power in Garo Hills,” he added.
The work for the 22.5 megawatts Ganol small hydro project stage-I in Garo Hills is monitored constantly by the high power committee chaired by Chief Secretary MS Rao.
Last year the state cabinet had approved Rs 507.71 cr as a revised cost estimate for completing the prestigious power project.
The project has encountered several delays since it was conceived way back in 2006. After completion it will boost the power generation of Meghalaya.
