Dibrugarh, July 7: A ninth standard girl committed suicide after being allegedly molested by one of her teacher at Dhola in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district.
Sources said that the 14-year-old girl was a student of Hatighuli High School.
The girl might have been facing molestation by the teacher for quite some time, as she had attempted suicide on June 3, 2035, earlier, but doctors somehow managed to save her life.
Subsequently, the teacher Vriku Chetry was arrested by the police on June 11.
However, the girl committed suicide yesterday by hanging herself at her residence.
The matter has created sensation across the district with various organisations demanding severe and exemplary punishment for the accused teacher.
Sources added that the accused teacher used to give the girl sleeping tablets before repeatedly molesting her.
