Tura, Feb 21: Monday evening’s meeting between a high level delegation of the government headed by none other than the state government’s chief adviser Thomas A Sangma and the leaders of over 10 Garo organisations at Circuit House failed to get any breakthrough.

The government side, led by Thomas A Sangma, during talks urged the protest groups to withdraw their ongoing strike with an assurance that their demands have been noted and a response would come within the next 2-3 days.
However, the protest groups were not at all convinced by the assurance given by Thomas and his team which included Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira, Siju-Rongara MLA Rakkam A Sangma and Williamnagar MLA Marcuise N Marak.
The failure of the talks has put into question the credibility of the government adviser who is supposed to be the trouble shooter in such situations.
“We are not going to withdraw the ongoing protests until CEM Rakesh A Sangma is removed from the post of CEM,” announced GSU CEC president Tengsak G Momin to supporters outside GHADC office after returning from the failed talks in circuit house on Monday evening.
According to the student and social organisations they will continue their office picketing for the entire week until and unless the government cedes to their demands.
