During the meeting Conrad also welcomed former BJP Manipur members to NPP.Speaking at the meeting, Conrad Sangma reminded the gathering of Late PA Sangma who dared to contest the election for the post of Presidentship and demonstrated to the country that northeast people are at par with rest of India.
Sharing an anecdote, he recalled how his father had to stand on the table when he first joined the Parliament to get noticed because no one was listening to him.
“Inspite of knowing that he may not win… the numbers were stacked against him, he simply made one statement. He said ‘I’m here to give a message, and my message is that we the people of the North East can also contest the President’s election. We are second to none’. And that message that seed that he sowed that day by giving the small message, small yet a powerful message was like a bomb,” the NPP chief shared.
