Shillong, Jan 30: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of East Jaintia Hills district police seized heroin worth around ₹20 lakh from an oil tanker and arrested four suspected drug suppliers during a naka operation at Umkiang under Lumshnong police station on Friday.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the police intercepted an oil tanker (registration number AS-11 DC-1200) and recovered 45.5 grams of heroin concealed in four plastic soap boxes. Four mobile phones were also seized from the accused.
The arrested persons have been identified as Shymal Boro of Kamrup district, Matab Uddin of Cachar, Ataur Rohman of Karimganj, and Biren Singha of Hailakandi district in Assam.

Police suspect the four to be part of a larger organised crime syndicate involved in interstate transportation of narcotics, using commercial vehicles to evade detection.
