Must read

Shillong, Oct 29: The Hid Foundation Shillong has appealed to citizens to promote a cleaner and healthier public environment by refraining from smoking and using tobacco in public places such as markets, shops, and offices.

In a statement issued by Executive Coordinator Mr. Soniland Malai, the foundation reminded the public that smoking in public areas is strictly prohibited under government regulations. However, despite the ban, many continue to violate the rule, posing serious health risks to others.

The foundation emphasized that in today’s age of scientific and technological progress, society continues to face health challenges from diseases and viruses. It called on everyone to prioritize public health and protect future generations by fostering a tobacco-free and smoke-free environment.

Hid Foundation urged citizens to take collective responsibility in creating healthier public spaces, promoting campaigns such as “Breathe Easy: Let’s Create a Smoke-Free Public Space” and “Clean Air, Better Health: Let’s Keep Public Places Smoke-Free.”

The organisation expressed hope that through collective awareness and civic responsibility, Shillong can move closer to becoming a smoke-free and health-conscious city.
