Shillong, Oct 7: A cadre of proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), identified as one Emanuel Suchen, surrendered before the Meghalaya Police at Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills on Thursday.

Informing this, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said Suchen had joined the HNLC in 2002 and was arrested in 2008, subsequently being jailed for 3 years under the MPDA.

However, he once again joined the outfit after coming out of the prison.

Nonetheless, the Home Minister said, “Better s

ense prevailed and today (Thursday) he came forward to surrender before the law; so we are happy as the police department.”
He further informed that preliminary investigation states that Suchen had a hand in the blast at star cement and also Khliehriat police reserve.

Rymbui also added that further interrogation is going on and more information will be disclosed in due course of time.
