SHILLONG, APR 7: Wangaal Lama of Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School, who topped the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination, expressed his gratitude saying, “The results didn’t matter to me because what I performed I did it with my whole heart. No regrets.”

Lama shared his surprise and happiness, “When I got it, it just felt like a dream… I was so nervous, I didn’t even check my results.”

He recalled arriving at school to find a commotion, saying, “When they brief me about my results, I could not even believe it. I am just so happy.”

On his success, Lama emphasized self-belief and hard work.

“You should never think that you are less than anyone… The foremost thing is that you have to believe in yourself,” he advised.

Lama urged peers to own their skills and have life experience. “Don’t be a book worm, you should have a whole life experience. Have vast knowledge of the topics and when you write, write through your heart,” he said.

Undecided on his future, Lama said, “God will help me find my purpose in life… Don’t think of me as a topper. I just studied. I know that thousands of people were expecting this but fortunately I topped it.”

He added, “Do it wholeheartedly and keep in mind that you are doing this because it is a duty and because you want it. When you give it your all, the results won’t matter to you.”
