Shillong, May 18: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shillong has issued a weather alert for the Garo Hills region of Meghalaya. According to the latest bulletin released at 8:00 PM on May 18, the region is likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall at many places over the next six hours.
There is also a possibility of isolated heavy rainfall in several districts, including South West Garo Hills, West Garo Hills, East Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, and North Garo Hills.
The alert remains valid until 2:00 AM on May 19. Residents are advised to stay indoors, avoid travel if possible, and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during the inclement weather.
