KHADC chief seeks MoS Patil’s intervention to route all Panchayati Raj schemes through ADCs in Meghalaya

Shillong, Sept 22: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member (CEM), Titosstar Chyne, on Wednesday informed Union Minister of State (MoS) for Panchayati Raj, Kapil Moheshwar Patil that there confusion for the past few days concerning the implementation of the central government schemes.

Patil was in Shillong on Wednesday to review the schemes and programmes of his Ministry being implemented by the Government of Meghalaya.Talking to the Minister,  Chyne explained that the state is under Autonomous District Councils and not under the Panchayati Raj. Therefore,  all the schemes provided by the 15th finance commission should go through the ADCs.

“The question of any other council to be formed in Meghalaya doesn’t arise,” he asserted.

He added that rural local bodies, which are the ADCs and the village dorbars, should be the agencies to implement any Scheme provided by Government of India.

Also present in the meeting was C&RD Minister Hamlet Dohling, among other officials.
