Tura, Sept 29: A sudden accident involving a landslip in Mondoltilla locality of Tura on Wednesday morning has led to the death of a man.
The accident happened in the morning hours, between 10-11 AM, when soft earth behind a house suddenly collapsed, burying alive one Maman Sangma who was digging it with another brother of his.
Both had been given the work to cut the soil by one Babita M Sangma, their own family relative, for some expansion of the house space, located below the tri junction in Mondol Tilla.
According to eye witness accounts, the two brothers were cutting away at the mud wall when it caved in, burying one of them alive.
Neighbours and others rushed and dug out the mud but it was too late.
The victim hails from Mindikgre village of South Garo Hills and had settled down in Sampalgre, Tura.
