Imphal, Aug 31: Security forces recovered arms, ammunition, and a war-like store, including a 9 mm pistol, in a search operation in Manipur’s Thoubal district on August 29.

Eight grenades, one radio set, ammunition, and other warlike stores were also seized during the operation.

After getting intelligence input, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a search operation in the general area of Kama Ridge in Thoubal and recovered the arms and ammunition.

In a similar operation,a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a search operation in the general area of Nongpok Sekmai in Thoubal district and recovered three launcher rifle grenades and ammunition.

Coordinated operations carried out by security forces in Manipur have resulted in the nefarious designs of inimical elements.

Security forces have launched a massive operation against the anti-social element in Manipur.

“Most of the underground insurgent groups have fled away into the jungles after the massive operation of the security forces. These anti-socials have taken chances during the ethnic violence by providing their arms and ammunition to the people,” said a police official.
