Meghalaya begin U-20 National Championship campaign with win over Bihar

Must read

Shillong, May 9: Meghalaya made an impressive start to their campaign in the Swami Vivekananda U-20 Men’s National Football Championship 2026, defeating Bihar 3-1 in their Group A match at Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, this evening.

Samborlang Langte opened the scoring in spectacular fashion in the 20th minute, unleashing a stunning long-range strike that left spectators and defenders alike stunned. Meghalaya strengthened their grip on the contest just six minutes later when Menangpyndap Khongjee found the net to make it 2-0 before Bihar could regroup.

Bihar responded strongly after the break and reduced the deficit through Md Sadique Rahman in the 48th minute, setting up a tense second half. Meghalaya, however, remained composed under pressure and managed to hold on to their slim advantage for most of the game.

Any hopes of a Bihar comeback were ended deep into stoppage time when Menangpyndap struck again in the 90+6 minute to seal Meghalaya’s opening victory in convincing style.

Meghalaya will now take on Jharkhand in their next Group A fixture on Monday at 7:30am.
