Shillong, July 11: The name of Meghalaya has once again been unfairly tarnished by baseless claims from an outsider who likely has never even set foot in the state — alleging that a village here in Meghalaya still practices ‘human sacrifice’ and ‘ritualistic cannibalism’.
The ‘baba’ who claimed to have over 40 years of experience in astrology and tantra is known as Sushil Guru.

In one of the podcasts uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Supertalks by themovingship’ on June 13, while speaking with host Raghav Sharma, the astrologer alleged that in this ‘unnamed’ village believed to be inhabited by a ‘tribal’ community, humans are still offered as sacrifices and even consumed as part of ancient rituals.
“They believe that offering a human life pleases their deity. People go in as part of the ritual four may enter, but only three return,” he said in the podcast.
The astrologer went on to claim that these acts are carried out in a ceremonial manner, with the community treating the sacrifice as a spiritual duty rather than a crime. “They are tribal people, and they eat humans. For them, it is about devotion, not violence,” he added.
In this podcast episode, they also discuss on the subject of Tantra , black magic and spiritual energies.
The podcast remains available on the channel and has garnered over 47,000 views, drawing a mix of reactions in the comments section. While some viewers have labelled the astrologer a fraud and a scammer, others believe he is being honest.
This isn’t the first time Meghalaya has been misrepresented. In a recent incident, the state was unfairly branded as ‘crime-prone,’ with disturbing claims about ‘organ trafficking’ by locals. The matter was seemingly brushed aside after just after an ‘apology’.
But, the question now is: will the state government take any action against this self styled astrologer, or will another apology be enough to move on?
