Murder most foul!

Must read

Tura, March 6: The heights of cruelty and lack of compassion for a young life was most shockingly visible in North Garo Hills where a boy who had just entered adolescence was attacked and murdered by a mob merely for striking up a conversation with a girl while awaiting his father’s return from an election campaign on Thursday night.

This chilling crime occurred at Dingok market, near Mendal, a few kms from Bajengdoba in North Garo Hills on the night of March 4th.

The young 13-year-old Mansim G Momin was called by his father to wait at Dingok market of Mendal so as to take him back home to Raja Apal village. The father had gone to an interior village for an election campaign related to the upcoming GHADC elections rescheduled for April 12th.

According to police, Mansim had gone on a motorcycle with another teenage friend of his to the market and while waiting for the return of his father was loitering around when he interacted with a girl and began chatting.

His interaction with the girl was not taken kindly by some of the locals and soon a group of men surrounded and accosted him leading to an argument. The argument soon turned into a violent attack on Mansim and his friend by the angry men who physically assaulted them using lathis and sticks.

The young teen was left bleeding and unconscious and was rushed to the nearest health centre where he breathed his last. His friend survived the attack.

Police have registered a murder case but the men who committed the cold-blooded murder of the young teen have reportedly fled from the area apprehending an arrest.
