Must read

Guwahati, Sept 10: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday launched the ‘PM Neem Corridor’ in Numaligarh by planting a neem sapling along the 2.2 km stretch leading to the refinery campus, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on September 14.

As part of the initiative, neem trees will be planted along the entire road to symbolically honour Modi’s upcoming visit.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a ₹5,000-crore bamboo-based ethanol plant at the Numaligarh Refinery and launch projects worth over ₹18,000 crore from Numaligarh and Mangaldai, expected to give a major boost to Assam’s socio-economic growth.

Sarma also reviewed preparations for Modi’s massive public rally at the Numaligarh Tanker Stand, where over one lakh people are expected to gather. He instructed officials to ensure drinking water, sanitation, parking, first-aid facilities and smooth traffic management, alongside strict security measures.

The Chief Minister chaired a review meeting with Cabinet Ministers, MPs, MLAs, district officials and agencies to finalise the arrangements.

Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, BJP State President Dilip Saikia, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, MLAs and senior officials were present during the inspection.
