Shillong, April 2: NEEPCO celebrated its 49th Foundation Day at its Corporate Office, in Shillong on Tuesday as well as in all plants and locations of the organization.

Speaking on the occasion, Gurdeep Singh, Chief Managing Director (CMD), expressed his satisfaction at the progress made by NEEPCO, despite the difficult conditions prevailing in the region and expressed his confidence that NEEPCO would be able to expeditiously execute its projects with good planning and management. CMD further stated that the Corporation is committed to clean and green energy. Referring to his meeting with the CM of Meghalaya, he expressed optimism on the progress of Wah Umiam and other PSP projects in the state.

B. Maharana,in his welcome address said that with the continual guidance and support of the CMD, NEEPCO has achieved its targets in the preceding year and looked forward to more accomplishments and success. The annual awards were also distributed on the occasion.

Awards for Best Performing Plants, for hydro and thermal were given on the occasion. For hydro the first prize went to Panyor lower hydro power station, Arunachal Pradesh, followed by Tuirial hydro power station, Mizoram and Pare hydro power station, Arunachal Pradesh received the third prize.

For thermal plants the first prize went to Agartala gas-based power station, Tripura followed by Assam gas-based power station, Assam.
