Shillong, Apr 2: The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited celebrated its 51st Foundation Day on Wednesday at its corporate office here, highlighting more than five decades of work in the region’s energy sector.

The event opened with a Guard of Honour and the hoisting of the NEEPCO flag. A documentary traced the company’s evolution from its early projects to its current role as NTPC’s hydro arm.

Chairman & Managing Director praised the workforce and NEEPCO’s strategic place in India’s renewable push. “Our consistent efforts and achievements reflect the dedication of our people and our importance in strengthening the nation’s renewable energy portfolio,” he said.

Director (Finance) B. Maharana, delivering the welcome address, called the corporation “a key pillar of India’s energy landscape,” noting its transformation over 50 years. The programme also saw the launch of the Vigilance Bulletin and closed with remarks by the Chief Human Resource Officer.

Founded in 1976, NEEPCO has anchored hydropower development in the Northeast and now operates under NTPC as part of India’s clean-energy expansion.
