North East Express Derailment: All passengers from Northeast safe, says NF Railway CPRO

Guwahati, Oct 12: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO), Sabyasachi De, on Thursday informed that all passengers from northeast are safe.

Talking to media persons, Sabyasachi De said, “All passengers of northeast are safe. A special train carrying over 1000 passengers have left Danapur railway station at 5 a.m and expected to reach Kamakhya railway station by 11 p.m. As many as 540 passengers are from Assam. No serious injuries have been reported to the Assam bound passengers. The deceased are mostly from Delhi and Bihar.”

“Some passengers are being treated at hospital but we have not got their details but after we get, we will update the list,” he informed.

The Indian Railways has announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased, Rs. 2.5 lakh for seriously injured and Rs.50,000 for normal injuries.

The North East Express trail had derailed at around 9:50 pm on Wednesday night.

According to reports, out of total 21 coaches, four coaches were affected.
