Shillong, Feb 4: NPP working president and cabinet minister Marcuise N Marak announced that the party is finalizing candidates for the GHADC elections, with selections expected to be completed within this week.
“We are at the final stages of selecting our candidates… We will be declaring all the candidates very soon,” Marak said, adding that the party will contest all 29 constituencies.
When asked about other parties, Marak said, “I would say that maybe Congress might be the next party who will be fighting with us. Also, I am hearing that TMC is not going to put up candidates.”
Regarding speculation about other parties, Marak said, “Party is a party… I won’t say it is a sinking ship. Let’s see, let the time come and then we will see how and which parties are coming for the elections to contest.”
The NPP is considering multiple applicants for some constituencies, with up to seven candidates vying for party sponsorship in some areas.
