Shillong, July 27: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday attended the State Talent Identification 2022 at St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School organized by Meghalaya State Olympic Association and Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, implemented by EDGE10 Group.

Speaking on the occasion, Sangma said the groundwork for the development of sports should be laid early in life. “We realized that the nurturing of the mind and talents of a child begins early,” he said. He added that government needs to ensure to come up with the right policies and programmes to be able to shape and identify the young minds and talents so that they become successful later in life in the Sports or discipline that they have a potential in.
The Chief Minister also informed that the government intends to have Talents Identification in different sectors like Music, Science and Technology etc. “The government will facilitate the nurturing and growing of these talents in different sectors so that our children can be among the best in the world,” he said. He further said that with the scientific approach of the identification of sport talents there will a positive improvement in the Sports sector in the years to come.
The State Talent Identification programme was also attended by Commissioner, Sports & Youth Affairs, Dr Vijay Kumar and members of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association.
