Tura, Feb 3: One Tata sumo bearing registration number AS 01M 3993 which was driven by Monit D. Marak that was carrying passengers from weekly Kharkutta Bazar to Rongchri village met with an accident on reaching Konchikol village after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

It was due to rash and negligence driving of the driver which subsequently led to the death of one passenger.

The passenger who died on the spot has been identified as Jorong Momin, married to Elsamoni Sangma and resident of Rongchri village.

A number of other passengers from the vehicle also received injuries after the commercial vehicle fell into a rice field due to reckless driving.

The injured persons were immediately shifted to PHC Hospital in Kharkutta for medical attention, while the dead body of the victim has been handed over to the relatives after the completion of the post mortem examination.
