Participants underscored the need for peace, communal harmony and collective responsibility in the wake of the incident. Religious and community leaders assured the administration of full cooperation in spreading messages of restraint and in countering rumours and misinformation.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring justice for the deceased while preserving public order.

He also informed that similar peace committee meetings are being held at Rajabala and Phulbari to strengthen coordination at the grassroots.

Earlier, the DC held a late-night meeting with representatives of the concerned NGO whose member died in the incident, during which assurances of cooperation and restraint were given.

Meanwhile, Abraham T. Sangma, Superintendent of Police, said a case has been registered and police are making all-out efforts to apprehend the culprits.

Multiple raids have been conducted, while the stone quarry owner linked to the case remains at large.

The SP warned of strict action against those spreading false rumours or misleading information on social media, cautioning that such acts could disturb public order. He urged citizens to rely only on verified information from the police or the police control room.

Adequate police deployment has been ensured across the district, with additional reinforcements from the state police. Security has been tightened in sensitive areas, and police escorts are being provided where necessary. Coordination with Assam Police has also been strengthened given the incident’s proximity to the interstate border.

Addressing reports of commodity price hikes, the Deputy Commissioner said a Supply Department team has been tasked with market inspections in coordination with the Bazaar Committee to prevent any artificial rise in prices.

Both the district administration and police appealed to the public to remain calm, shun rumours and cooperate fully in maintaining peace and harmony in the district.
