Guwahati, Jan 10: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) will bring its month-long mass consultation campaign, ‘Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress’, to a close with a three-day culmination programme in Guwahati on January 10,11 and 12, marking the end of one of the most expansive people-centric political exercises undertaken in the state in recent years.
Launched in early December 2025, the campaign was an effort to take politics out of closed-door meetings and back to the people, with Congress leaders fanning out across districts to listen to citizens’ concerns and policy priorities.
The culmination event is expected to draw a wide cross-section of civil society, including student bodies, trade unions, professional associations, minority organisations, women’s collectives, environmental groups, cultural forums, business chambers and citizen platforms that participated in the consultation process over the past month.
Party leaders said the Guwahati programme is not merely a concluding event but a public reaffirmation of consultative politics.
Over the past several weeks, five consultation teams led by senior Congress leaders travelled across Upper Assam, Central Assam, Barak Valley, Bodoland and the hill districts, holding day-long interactions with farmers, tea garden workers, students, women’s groups, minorities and local stakeholders.
Leaders including Gaurav Gogoi, Debabrata Saikia, Bhupen Bora, Rakibul Hussain and Ripun Bora led these district-level engagements, ensuring that voices from Majuli to Dhubri and Silchar to Kokrajhar were systematically recorded.
Anchoring this process of consolidation is the manifesto-building exercise led by Pradyut Bordoloi, Chairman of the Manifesto Committee, who has the translation of public feedback into a policy roadmap.
The two-day Guwahati meet will bring these diverse conversations onto a single platform, enabling civil society groups and mass organisations to review the emerging draft, raise concerns and offer final inputs.
As the party moves from consultation to consolidation, the APCC views the event as a reaffirmation of its commitment to participatory politics seeking to shape Assam’s future through a unified people’s mandate rather than top-down decision making.
