Kolkata, Oct 5: Amid speculation of shifting loyalty to Trinamool Congress, dissident MLA of ruling BJP in Tripura Ashis Das, who on Monday praised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday said political anarchy and chaos are going on in the saffron party ruled state.
Das, after shaving his head and performing a yagna in Kolkata’s Kalight temple, said that political anarchy and chaos are going in the BJP ruled Tripura and people are unhappy with the performance of the state government.
Refusing to disclose whether he would join Trinamool Congress, the 43-year-old saffron party legislator told the media: “You will see everything soon.”
Reacting on the comments and activities of Das, the Tripura state President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manik Saha said they are observing everything and in due course of time appropriate steps would be taken.
Modi selling government properties to private parties
Talking to the media in Kolkata, Das, an MLA from Surma Assembly seat in northern Tripura, also criticised the Prime Minister for “selling most government properties to private parties”.
“Once Modi’s messages stirred and touched the minds of people from all sections across the country. Modi had once said ‘Na khaunga, na khane dunga’, but now it has become a popular jumla (joke) in the country,” he said.
He said that at the Centre and the states, the BJP has been running governments in an “autocratic style”.
Praise for Mamata Banerjee
The BJP MLA also highly praised Banerjee for winning the bypoll in Bhabanipur Assembly seat, and claimed that many people and organisations want Banerjee as the Prime Minister and her elevation to the post is very crucial as she is a Bengali.
Das, who is in Kolkata for the past three days, is likely to meet Trinamool Congress leaders.
Das and four other BJP MLAs — Sudip Roy Barman, Ashis Kumar Saha, Diba Chandra Hrangkhawl and Burba Mohan Tripura – on August 29 held a big gathering in Agartala which was attended by many local BJP leaders and workers.
