Project Hariyali launched in West Jaiñtia Hills District

Jowai, Sept 11: Climate Change has become a global concern and the Rotary Club International has taken up the matter as a subject of concern. The Rotary Club of Jowai along with the Rotary Club Orchid City Shillong launched the ‘Project Hariyali’ sponsored by Mahindra Finance at St. Paul Secondary School, Mookaswan, West Jaiñtia Hills on Saturday.

A small gathering was also organised during the launching of the project and the gathering was presided by the former president of the Rotary Club of Jowai, Rtn. SK Lato in the presence of Rtn. Vincent H. Darlong, Vice Chancellor of Martin Luther Christian University as the Chief Guest. During the gathering speakers stressed on the need to not only plant saplings but also to take of them to ensure they grow which will in return benefit nature and its fight against Climate Change and Oxygen deficiency.

A. Khonglah from Mahindra Finance, Jowai informed that the project is part of the CSR of the Company and hopes to continue with the project in the coming years and also thanked the Rotary Club for is support and dedication in protecting the Environment.
