Nongpoh, Aug 1: The local MLA of Jirang Constituency, Sosthenes Sohtun, has raised serious concerns over alleged illegal operations taking place at Queens Hotel in Jorabat, following public complaints and media reports.
According to Sohtun, several residents have alleged that a night club is being run without proper authorization within the hotel premises. There are also reports of unauthorized gambling activities taking place on weekends — particularly on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays — which has sparked further suspicion and unease in the locality.
Speaking to reporters, the legislator pointed out that the regular presence of high-end vehicles during weekends has only intensified public concern regarding the nature of activities at the establishment.
In response to the allegations, Sohtun said he has taken up the issue with the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District. He has urged the district administration to carry out an immediate inspection of the hotel premises to verify the complaints and initiate appropriate legal action if any illegal operations are found.
The MLA emphasised the importance of upholding law and order in the constituency and reiterated his commitment to ensuring that such activities, if proven, are dealt with firmly under the law.
