Shillong, June 26: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police probing the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi is yet to recover one of the most important pieces of evidence in the case – the mobile phone of Sonam Raghuvanshi.
Despite the recent success of the SIT in Indore where they recovered several key items related to the crime and the accused as well as the arrest of three more people, they couldn’t find the phone of Sonam, Raja’s wife and co-accused in the case.

Superintendent of Police (City) Herbert Kharkongor, leading the SIT, on Thursday revealed that Sonam claimed to have been using three mobile phones, two of which she stated have been destroyed. However, police have yet to recover any of her devices. This missing piece of evidence could be crucial in understanding the communication leading up to Raja’s murder in Sohra on May 23.
The SIT recently recovered a pistol based on the preliminary interrogation statements of two accused, Raj Kushwaha and Akash Rajput.

The SP informed that the recovered firearm is illegal and lacks any license registration.
The police are currently trying to ascertain whether this pistol was intended to be used as part of a pre-meditated plan to murder Raja.
“Though right now that has not been actually revealed but that aspect we will be examining,” Kharkongor stated.
