Raja Raghuvanshi Case | Court extends Judicial custody of Sonam and Raj by 14 days

Must read

Shillong , Aug 1: A local court in Shillong on Friday extended the judicial custody of Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha, the two prime accused in the high-profile Raja murder case, by another 14 days.

The order follows a similar decision on July 31, when the court remanded the remaining three accused—Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi, and Vishal Chauhan—to 14 days’ judicial custody. All proceedings were conducted via video conferencing in accordance with judicial protocols.

The case pertains to the brutal murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. His dismembered body was discovered on June 2 in a deep valley near Weisadong waterfall in Sohra, over a week after he was reported missing on May 23.

According to police investigations, Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raja’s wife, allegedly conspired with her reported lover Raj Kushwaha to carry out the murder, enlisting the help of three others. Sonam was taken into custody and brought to Shillong by the Meghalaya Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) shortly after midnight on June 11.

The remaining four accused were transported on transit remand the following day.
