Shillong, Aug 18: The Capacity Building Commission (CBC), in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, inaugurated the Rashtriya Karmayogi – Large Scale Jan Seva Programme (Phase II) on Monday at the NEHU Guest House Conference Hall.
The three-day programme, scheduled from August 18 to 20, aims to enhance capacity building and strengthen service delivery across higher education institutions in the North East.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. J. K. Tripathi, Joint Secretary, UGC, outlined the Commission’s vision for efficient, accountable, and empathetic higher education governance. He emphasised the importance of equipping academic leaders and administrators with skills rooted in the ethos of public service.
Colonel Vipin Kaushal, SM, UGC, drew from his distinguished service background to highlight the values of discipline, commitment, and teamwork in advancing UGC’s higher education initiatives.
Chief Guest and NEHU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, delivered the keynote address, commending UGC’s efforts to instill a service-oriented ethos in higher education. He also shared NEHU’s recent achievements and encouraged participants to actively engage in the programme for institutional growth and societal benefit.
Following the inaugural session, UGC Lead Trainers commenced training and workshops focusing on practical tools, participatory methods, and best practices to align higher education professionals with Mission Karmayogi’s vision of capacity building and citizen-centric governance.
Programme Coordinator and Nodal Officer, Dr. Devendra Biswal, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to dignitaries, trainers, and participants. He underlined that the programme goes beyond training, aiming to foster a transformative shift in academic administration across the region.
The event marked a significant step towards nurturing a cadre of professionals dedicated to excellence, accountability, and public service in India’s higher education sector.
