Imphal, Oct 3: Security forces have arrested four militants belonging to different banned outfits in Manipur, including the self-styled “commander-in-chief” of the Chin Kuki Mizo Army (CKMA).

The militant leader, identified as Paokholen Guite, was apprehended from S Munuam in Churachandpur district on Wednesday.

“He was actively involved in arms and drug trafficking across the India-Myanmar border, besides running extortion rackets. Two AK-47 rifles, 181 rounds of ammunition, ₹1 lakh in cash, and a car were seized from his possession,” a police official said.

In a separate operation on Thursday, two cadres of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were arrested from different locations in Imphal West district. They were allegedly engaged in extorting money from brick kiln owners and residents in the valley areas.

Security forces have intensified operations against insurgent groups across Manipur, targeting networks involved in extortion and cross-border smuggling.
