Shillong, May 23: Shillong Lajong FC will take on the final challenge of the Indian Football League (IFL) 2026 on Saturday after securing a place in the title clash at the Kalyani Football Stadium.

The Meghalaya-based club, which has enjoyed a strong run through the season.

Ahead of the summit clash, sponsor Star Cement said the occasion marked a significant moment for the company, which is associated with both the tournament and the finalist club. The company is the title sponsor of the Indian Football League 2026 and also sponsors Shillong Lajong FC.

In a statement, Star Cement said football continues to hold strong cultural and sporting significance in the Northeast, adding that its partnership with the league and the Shillong-based club reflects its support for sports development and regional talent.
The company also informed that its Chief Operating Officer, Pradeep Purohit, is expected to attend the post-match presentation ceremony and distribute awards to winners and participants.

Speaking ahead of the final, Pradeep Purohit said the company viewed football as a platform that brings communities together and inspires young people, while describing Shillong Lajong’s qualification for the final as a proud moment for the region.

Shillong Lajong’s entry into the final has generated excitement among football followers in the Northeast, with supporters hoping the club can cap off its campaign with the championship title.
