Residents of Nengkra and adjoining villages, along with several civil society organisations, have formally objected to a proposal for the establishment of a bonded warehouse under the Excise Department in the area, citing concerns over public safety, social harmony and the welfare of local communities.
The State Cabinet on Tuesday approved the amendment of the Meghalaya Excise Amendment Rules, 2021 for reclassification of brands to ensure additional revenue of Rs 50 crore is collected by excise department.
