In a major crackdown on a suspected counterfeit currency network, Lakhimpur police on Friday seized fake currency worth nearly ₹10 lakh in ₹500 denomination from the Bangalmora area. One individual has been arrested in connection with the case.
A huge amount counterfeit currency has been seized from their possession during the crackdown. The police later seized uncovered counterfeit currency totalling worth 5 lakhs 11 thousand rupees.
Acting on a tip-off, the Circle Police Officer, Chapar, and the officer-in-charge of Chapar police station conducted the raid at the house of the accused, Sahinur Islam, a resident of Dhirghat in Chapar in Dhubri district
