NPP chief and Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, on Saturday urged the Centre to take necessary measures to restore normalcy in Manipur and ensure the safe return of those affected.
“The current dispensation as far as the state government is concerned, we are all intact and we are all committed, we will complete the whole term of 2023 up to 2028. They (UDP) are our closest friends so we will continue and we will sail together,” Tynsong told reporters.
“We will be very happy if we can manage to dictate (to the NPP to sever its ties with the BJP). Minus the BJP, we are ready to support and work together (with the NPP in the state), there is no doubt about it,” Pala said.
The close proximity between the Congress and the NPP has created a sense of unhappiness among the UDP, a key ally in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government.

Speaking to section of reporters on here, Congress’ Gabriel Wahlang said the reason his party is supporting the NPP in the District Council is for the “welfare of our culture”.
