Tourism in Meghalaya resumes from September 01

Shillong, Aug 26: In a good news for those looking to move out from their homes after being confined to the limits of their locality due to Covid-19 restrictions for the past 4 months, tourism in Meghalaya is set to resume from September 1.

However, the condition is that one has to be either double vaccinated, or produce RTPCR/TruNat/CBNAT negative test report on entry to the State.

This was informed by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday.

Modalities for tourists 

– Double vaccinated tourists will be allowed to visit Meghalaya for tourism related purposes from 1st September, 2021.

– Tourists who are not vaccinated or vaccinated with a single dose will have to produce negative RTPCR/TrueNat/CBNAAT report valid only if they have tested within 72 Hrs prior to their arrival at the entry point.

– Local tourists from within the State that are fully vaccinated/vaccinated with single dose will be allowed to visit any location in Meghalaya for tourism purposes.

– Local tourists who are not vaccinated will have to produce negative RTPCR/TrueNat/CBNAAT report before checking into any hotel or visit to any tourist spot.

The tourists will have to generate an e-invite for entry to Meghalaya through the Meghalaya App of the Meghalaya Tourism department.

It is also mandatory for the tourists from outside the State to book at least one night stay either in hotel, home stay or guest houses and declaration of the complete itinerary should be there.

Tourists who are staying as guests of any family or friend in Meghalaya need to declare the full address and contact details of the family or friend.
