Nongpoh, Oct 20: In yet another incident, a truck transporting illegal coal overturned on National Highway-6 in Nongpoh on Wednesday. According to reports, the loaded truck was heading towards Guwahati.
Interestingly, the number plate of the truck had been removed and the driver and helper fled from the scene. Meanwhile, investigation is underway.
It may be noted that there have been a series of accidents in the coal mines of Meghalaya. In December 2018, at least 17 labourers were killed when a coal mine got flooded.
