Tura, Nov 8: A candle light vigil service was held today at Circuit House junction in Tura to pray for Fr. Stan Swamy, 83 year-old Jesuit tribal right activist, who was arrested on alleged charges for his link with Maoist last month.
Tura Based Christian Churches (TBCC) will submit memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his release through the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, informed Rev. Frithing Sangma of Hawakhana Baptist Church.
He was arrested from his Ranchi residence on October 8 by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and is currently lodged in Taloja Central Jail, Mumbai. On October 22, his medical bail plea was rejected.
