Guwahati, Feb 10: A tussle has broken out between Grand Alliance partners- Congress and AIUDF over seat-sharing for the ensuing Assam Assembly Elections.
The Congress has assured the Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF that a “common minimum programme” would be reached upon soon.
Both the parties have expressed keenness on chalking out the seat arrangement plans soon.
On Tuesday, a key meeting of the Grand Alliance partners- was held at a hotel in Guwahati, where the seat-sharing issue was raised by the Grand Alliance partners.
Top leaders of the Grand Alliance parties- Congress, AIUDF, CPI, CPI-M, CPI-ML and Anchalik Gana Morcha (AGM) took part in this crucial meeting.
Meanwhile, hectic politicking has begun in Assam, with parties launching intense campaigning across the State.
Elections to the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly is due to be held in April-May this year.
