SHILLONG, NOV 28: Over 300 students from local educational institutions on Friday participated in a unity march in Ri Bhoi district, promoting patriotism and unity among the youth.
The 2nd Sardar@150 Unity March on Constitution Day to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the Iron Man of India was organised by the Mera Yuva Bharat (MYBharat) Ri-Bhoi, in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU).
The event, themed ‘Sardar@150’, aimed to instill a sense of unity and patriotism among the youth.
Students from MG University, CASFOS, and Mount Zion Academy participated in the march, which began at the MGU Gate and concluded at 14th Mile.
Addressing the rally as chief guest, Sarvendra Pratap Singh, State Director My Bharat Meghalaya, flagged off the rally, emphasizing the importance of unity and patriotism.
Other dignitaries present included Dr Sagar O Manjare, Vice-Chancellor MG University, Rev K Swer, Executive Chairman Mount Zion Academy, and Dr Y.K Reddy, NSS Co-ordinator MGU.
The event featured cultural performances, floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, and the reading of the Preamble to the Constitution.
The national flag was hoisted, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks.
