Shillong, Sept 17: Meghalaya health minister and MLA from Jowai, Wailadmiki Shylla on Wednesday inspected the construction of Iawmusiang shopping complex along with the JHADC’s executive member, incharge of market Seiborlang Shadap and the office bearers of Jaiñtia Tribal Traders Association (JTTA).
Following the inspection a short meeting was held where Shylla informed that the completion of the Complex was one of his main promises during the 2018 elections as the project was pending for decades.

He stated that in 2024 the state Government sanctioned Rs. 25 crores for the project and it is targeted to be completed with 24 months and as of now 70% of the work is completed.
The Asst Executive Engineer of PWD (Building) Wanker Slong informed that in the new Complex there will be 320 stalls.
Shadap stated that as per Council records there are 700 Stall Permits issued for the two markets of the JHADC in Jowai Town.

The President of JTTA, I. Najiar argued that while demolishing the old Iawmusiang market there were 600 stalls and urged that the new Complex should be able to accommodate all these stalls to avoid any untoward incident.
Shylla urged the stall owners to solve the issue amicably between the JHADC.
