Guwahati, Nov 5: The Walong Half Marathon 2025 was flagged off today from India’s easternmost battlefield, Walong, as part of the 63rd Walong Day Commemoration by the Indian Army.

The marathon — held in memory of the soldiers who displayed unmatched courage during the 1962 Indo-China War — drew an inspiring participation of over 700 runners, including civilians and Army personnel, in both men’s and women’s categories.

Participants competed across three categories — the 21 km Half Marathon, 10 km Run, and 5 km Tribute Run — transforming the remote valley into a celebration of endurance, unity, and national pride.

Beyond testing fitness, the event carried a powerful message of remembrance and resilience. The winners were honoured with medals and cash prizes worth up to Rs 2 lakh, as the cheering crowds echoed the spirit of valour that defines Walong’s legacy.
