Tura, Sept 21: The 1st edition of the West Eastern Motocross Challenge: Volume 1 came to a roaring conclusion on Saturday evening at Sella Wari in Dodinanggre,Tura as riders pushed their machines to the limit to win the championship.
The thrilling two-day event, held from September 19 to 20, made the scenic landscape of Sella Wari reverberate with the blaring sounds of engines roaring in full throttle, as the riders raced against each other over a natural and few artificially prepared tracks.
The high-octane event was organised by the Tribal Nation Riders club, with sponsorship from Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, Thomas A. Sangma, Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, SBI and VAS INC. Hub News served as the official media partner for the entire event.
The event brought together 36 passionate riders not only from across the Garo Hills region but also from Shillong and Sikkim, all competing for the ultimate trophy and bragging rights.
The competition was fierce, with participants showcasing their skills in various different categories, that included: Novice, Two-Stroke, Open, Beginners, Scooty and Expert class category.
There also was a special category for Royal Enfield riders but due to time constraints and few registrations, the category was unfortunately withdrawn from the challenge.
The championship concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners in each category were awarded trophies and cash prizes by L. Chetry, regional manager of SBI, West Garo Hills and Darryl R Marak, chief manager of SBI, Tura.
