Tura, July 7: The young athletes of Williamnagar are training hard as they prepare for the National Games 2027 boxing selection trials, set to take place on July 9 at the Williamnagar Indoor Stadium.

The East Garo Hills Boxing Association, under the mentorship of coach Noyonto G. Marak, is conducting rigorous training sessions at the Khelo India Centre located in Rongrenggre Model Deficit Secondary School, Chidekgre. The goal is to get local boxers ready for the big day, when selectors from the Meghalaya Boxing Association will arrive to identify top talent.

Speaking to HubNews, Coach Marak urged all eligible boxers from East Garo Hills to participate. “This is a golden chance to showcase your skill and dedication. With better infrastructure, I believe our boxers can make a name for themselves at both state and national levels,” he said.

With the trials just around the corner, enthusiasm is building across the district.

Coach Marak remains confident that Williamnagar’s determined and disciplined boxers will rise to the occasion and leave a mark on the national stage.
