Ampati, Oct 11: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of South West Garo Hills on Friday conducted a raid at a motor parts and hardware shop in the Mirzumla area under Monabari Police Outpost, leading to the arrest of one person and seizure of a substantial quantity of Yaba tablets.
The arrested individual has been identified as Md. Safik Alom (35), a resident of Mohontapara, Mankachar, Assam. During the search, the ANTF team recovered four packets of orange-coloured tablets, suspected to be Yaba, amounting to 584 tablets weighing 65.37 grams, along with a mobile phone from his possession.
Officials said all procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were duly followed, and the seized substances were taken into custody.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to trace the source and distribution network behind the illegal trafficking of the narcotic substances.
