Boko, April 5: The fallout of Zubeen Garg’s death spilled onto the streets of Boko on Saturday, as student groups staged a protest demanding justice while also raising strong objections to what they called the politicisation of the issue.
Marching through the area, protesters attempted to move towards the main highway but were stopped by police and administration officials, who had tightened security ahead of a scheduled political rally nearby.

The timing of the protest added a sharper edge to the situation.
Students expressed visible anger over what they described as efforts to turn a deeply emotional issue into an election narrative, calling such attempts insensitive.
The protest remained largely controlled, but the messaging was clear. For many of the young participants, this was not just about justice, but about drawing a line between public sentiment and political use.

The developments in Boko reflect a growing tension as Assam moves deeper into the election cycle, where issues tied to identity and emotion are increasingly intersecting with campaign narratives.
With security in place and protests contained, the situation remained under watch, even as the larger debate continues to build.
